Poll of the Week - 10.19.2009

The weather around here has gotten decidedly colder, windier, and rainier during the past week or so.  This is awful for wanting to spend time outside, but it’s fantastic for another autumnal tradition - stew!  I’ll take any excuse I can to eat long-simmered meat and potatoes, but summer is just too hot for that kind of food, so I get very excited when it’s finally cold enough to find a lazy weekend, dust off those cookbooks, and let the stove do all of the work.

This week’s “Poll of the Week” asks what is your favorite kind of stew?

I just made one of these stews this past weekend - look for the recipe to come later this week.  And as always, please let me know in the Comments section if your favorite isn’t listed!

  1. My favorite is lamb stew with red wine and rosemary, and sometimes a strip or two of orange zest.

I'm also excited that it's the season for soups, stews, and braises!

  4. I LOVE meat and crave hot food since most of the time here at college, all I eat are boring turkey sandies. It's been forever since I've had hungarian goulash, which I remember to be quite good, but truth be told I don't like spatzels...

  5. It was a toss-up between Boeuf Bourguignon & Irish Stew. With the cold weather creeping in, all of them sound wonderful.

  6. You didn't have kimchi chigae on the list so I had to pick my second favorite: Goulash

  12. I can't vote because I can't honestly say any of the choices are my favorite. My favorite is the beef apple stew I make here at home.
